About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Stony Plain, Power Plant Grill is a welcoming restaurant that delivers comforting dishes reminiscent of classic home-style cooking, elevated by fresh, thoughtful ingredients and a menu that caters to all-day dining. Whether you're stopping by for a hearty breakfast or a satisfying lunch, this local gem offers a warm atmosphere where friendly, attentive service complements every meal.

The cuisine here shines with its hearty, crave-worthy comfort food. Highlights from the menu include the iconic Beef Dip, featuring slow-braised pot roast piled generously on a bun, served with rich Au Jus for dipping—a true indulgence for meat lovers. If steak is more your style, the New York Steak Sandwich offers a six-ounce cut, expertly cooked to your preference and served open-faced on garlic toast, marrying robust steak flavor with buttery toast for an unbeatable bite.

Sandwich selections extend beyond the classics, with the Clubhouse Sandwich standing out for its thick layers of roasted turkey, crispy bacon, and ham, topped with aged cheddar and fresh vegetables, all nestled between your choice of breads (though a multigrain option would be a welcome addition, as some guests have noted). The Reuben Sandwich scores well in flavor with its tender corned beef on grilled rye, combining smoky and tangy notes that satisfy the palate.

Soups and salads bring fresh and vibrant choices to the table. The Tomato Gin Soup is a unique and alluring option, perfect for warming up on a cooler day. The Fiesta Taco Salad layers black bean taco-spiced chicken or beef atop a tossed salad, garnished with crunchy nacho chips and the signature house dressing, providing a fiesta of textures and flavors. For lighter fare, the classic Caesar Salad and the “Hearty” Soup & Salad combo make excellent choices, both served alongside garlic toast for a comforting touch.

Breakfast offerings are generous and satisfying, with dishes like the Meat Lovers Omelet, Bacon & Eggs, and the indulgent New York Steak N Eggs promising a protein-packed, flavorful start to the morning. The all-day breakfast model ensures that early risers and afternoon brunch lovers alike can enjoy these traditional favorites in a relaxed, inviting space.

Side dishes like crispy Sweet Potato Fries, classic Poutine, and warm Cheese Toast round out the menu with comforting accompaniments. Portions are generous, and the overall pricing offers great value considering the quality and authenticity of the dishes served.

Atmospherically, Power Plant Grill scores high marks for its quiet, comfortable setting with plenty of seating options—ideal for everything from casual meals to relaxed, friendly gatherings. A big television positioned at one end adds a subtle entertainment element without overpowering the dining experience. Guests often comment on the pleasant, unhurried vibe that allows for easy conversation and a genuinely welcoming ambiance.

Customer impressions underscore the welcoming nature of the restaurant. Colleen Hazzard praises the food as “like Mom’s home cooking,” highlighting dishes such as veal cutlets and meatloaf, and lauding the friendly, knowledgeable staff. Paul Senior appreciates the efficient and crisp service, along with the flavorful Reuben sandwich, while CJ King found the clubhouse sandwich to be “one of the best I've eaten,” emphasizing the freshness and quality ingredients. Though some dishes like the hot roast beef sandwich may lean slightly towards saltier tones, as Marlie Johnson noted, this does little to detract from the overall satisfying dining experience.

Whether you’re looking to indulge in a comforting meal that tastes like home or enjoy a quiet, unpretentious spot with solid coffee and generous portions, Power Plant Grill promises a reliably delicious experience. It's the kind of place that invites you back time and again, not just for the food, but for the warm hospitality that feels like a comforting embrace in the heart of Stony Plain.

This is a great little gem located in Stony Plain. The food is like Mom’s home cooking with dishes like Veal cutlets, meatloaf, steaks, all day breakfast and one of my all time favorites monty cristo sandwiches. The service is wonderful, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the prices are reasonable. I can’t wait to go back so I can try their other dishes.

I was surprised to see a hotel restaurant was rated so highly but this place delivered. Had a quick lunch. Menu is good and reasonably priced. Service was crisp and efficient. I had the Rueben which arrived lacking visual appeal and seemed a bit thin. Happy to say the taste was very good. Bog standard fries were serviceable.

Typical hotel restaurant. Service was ok, food was ok. Nice and quiet, no loud music blasting and drowning out table conversations. Had the the hot roast beef sandwich with mash. Tasty but salty.

Stopped in for a clubhouse sandwich and a house salad on the side. It was all delicious. The clubhouse was thick with roast turkey, lots of ham and bacon. One of the best I've eaten. Only thing that would have made it better is if they offered multigrain bread. (Four other bread choices offered). The side salad was very fresh with chopped tomatoes, cucumber and sliced radish on top of crunchy lettuce. Large size and tasty! Very filling lunch. I will be back again!
